This was recommended by David Mamet, so I checked it out. It's the most fun I've had reading outside of Twain. I could be wrong, but I think only one or two of the Wolfville series is available on Amazon. I got the others on Gutenberg. But they are all written in the same vein, thankfully. The author is relating stories he is being told by the Old Cattleman about events in the town of Wolfville, which I believe is in Arizona. Although the tales are numerous, they all contain the same characters, each with distinctive personalities and roles. The dialect takes some getting use to, but its part of the beauty. No matter how folksy and backwater it gets, there's little hesitation in throwing in a five-dollar word or two: "Badgers is big people an' strong as ponies too. An' obdurate! Son, a badger is that decided an' set in his way that sech feather-blown things as hills is excitable an' vacillatin' by comparison." There's a lot of charm here.

A little too old fashioned for this old cowboy. Good story but a bit hard to follow in places. Not bad
Good book. Funny. Tall tales. You have to read it carefull to understand the speech.
